Clinical History: In October 1962, this 78 year old female had a marked enlargement of the thyroid with increasing pressure symptoms. She first noticed enlargement of her thyroid gland toward the end of 1961. She was treated with propylthiouracil for three months with very little change in the size of the thyroid.

Clinical History: This 52 year old female had sensations of pressure and choking after being discharged from the hospital on October 27, 1968 for acute thyroiditis. She had been receiving thyroid, 2 grains daily, and had taken drops of potassium iodide solution since recovery from acute phase. She had been “nervous”.

Clinical History: For the past 10-11 years prior to admission, this 53 year old female had had a recurrent or new slowly growing mass in the neck which had become large and produced dyspnea and stridor on exertion for four years. She had an operation on her thyroid at the age of 12 for a “double growth.” Again at the age of 17, she had a tumor removed from her thyroid which was the “size of an orange.”

Clinical History:
Age: 40 | Sex: Female | Race: Cauc. Tissue from: Mass in Scalp
This patient had been aware of a nodular mass over the right parietal area of the scalp for many years. It had slowly increased in size, was painless and had not been preceded by a history of trauma. On examination it had been felt to be egg-sized and subcutaneous. The lesion was excised in December, 1956.

Clinical History:
Age: 84 | Sex: Male | Race: Negro | Tissue from: Skin, pretibial region
This man came to the Los Angeles County Hospital in April, 1956, for treatment of a “sore” on the anterior aspect of his right leg at the level of the mid shaft. He stated that it had been present for two years and alternately ulcerated and healed during this interval. The lesion measured 2 x 3 cm. and was elevated and crusted. His peripheral pulses were palpable. On April 13, 1956, the lesion was excised and a skin graft applied.

Clinical History:

This girl had no clinical symptoms other than noting a lump beneath the skin of the back in the mid dorsal area, apparently increasing in size and of unknown duration. There were no other significant physical findings and no significant laboratory findings. On December 8, 1956, the mass was excised.
